Safadi: Jordan showed ‘noblest’ solidarity with Palestinians

Amman: Lower House on Wednesday discussed during a session chaired by its Speaker, Ahmed Safadi, the agenda of its 3rd third regular session.

At the beginning of the session, Safadi referred to Jordan’s efforts, under His Majesty King Abdullah’s leadership, to firmly and solidly support Palestinians through its continuous endeavors to deliver relief and humanitarian aid to people in Gaza by all available means, including repeated airdrops.

Safadi added that Jordan has “always maintained support to Arab causes and Palestinians,” noting in this context to the King’s participation in the airdrop operations carried out by Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF)- the Arab Army to be the “largest” airdrop relief operations for Gaza people.

Safadi noted Jordan’s steps embody the “noblest” form of solidarity with the Palestinian brethren, with whom “we share blood, cause and destiny.”

Additionally, Safadi added that Jordan will not be deterred from continuing its role by all skeptical voices that have continued to raise dou
bts, adding that the Kingdom is resolved to continue its positions with a “cohesive” internal front.

Safadi expressed the House’s pride in the King’s great effort to stop the Israeli aggression against Gaza.

FM, Austrian counterpart discuss efforts to stop Israel’s war against Gaza, 2nd, final add

_: He said Jordan and Austria favor a two-state solution and wish to establish a Palestinian state, adding, “I do not see any alternative to that, as neither the Palestinians nor the Israelis will disappear from the face of the earth.”

He indicated, “We made a mistake in the past when we thought that the normalization process, or the so-called Abraham Treaties, would replace the Palestinian issue, and we have now discovered that this will not happen, and that the Palestinian issue, the treaties, and normalization are two sides of the same coin, and the only way for us to reach peace between the Palestinians and the Israelis is to live together in peace.

He reiterated that Gaza is part of the Palestinian state and that his government opposes any talk of forcible displacement.

“My country’s view on settlements and provocations at holy places is clear: they are simply unacceptable,” Schallenberg underlined.

Safadi and Schallenberg had expanded discussions about events in Gaza, the dire consequences of contin
uing the war, and measures to end it and protect civilians.

The discussions also focused on the international community’s legal and humanitarian responsibilities, as well as the need to provide adequate and long-term aid across the Strip.

In an interview with the Jordan News Agency (Petra), Rigterinck stated that Jordan’s medium-term economic growth remains robust and steady despite regional challenges, thanks to the effective execution of economic modernization strategies and foreign direct investment attraction.

Rigterink’s visit to Amman aims to assess the bank’s operations in Jordan and explore potential areas for future support, emphasizing the bank’s commitment to assisting Jordan amidst regional hardships.

He reiterated the bank’s support for SMEs through banking facilities and green financing initiatives, underlining ongoing projects in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone to promote environmental sustainability, including an eco-friendly electric bus project and waste management initiatives.

Rigterink praised Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision, launched last year, and legislative efforts, including investment laws and public-private sectors partnership law, for fostering growth.

He hi

Regarding the bank’s investments in Jordan, Rigterink noted significant contributions over the past decade, totaling 71 projects valued at 2.1 billion euros, with recent investments amounting to 62 million euros across five projects.

Jordan became a member of the bank in 2011, obtaining aid recipient status in 2013, with the bank maintaining a permanent office overseeing operations in Jordan, the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and Lebanon.
