Makkah: The 46th session of the King Abdulaziz International Competition for Memorizing, Reciting and Interpreting the Holy Quran commenced in Makkah under the auspices of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. This significant event, organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, will continue until Rabi Al-Awwal 6, 1448 AH.

According to Saudi Press Agency, this year's competition has attracted a remarkable participation of 334 male and female contestants from 133 countries, representing the largest number of participants in its history. The event aims to motivate young Muslims worldwide to engage deeply with the Holy Quran by memorizing, comprehending, and reflecting upon its teachings. It also seeks to promote honorable competition among participants and underscore Saudi Arabia's dedication to honoring the Quran and its memorizers.

In an unprecedented move, the competition will feature independent contests for female participants, with events scheduled at the Makkah Hilton Hotel and Convention Center. Meanwhile, the male category finals and the closing ceremony will be held at the Grand Mosque, further enhancing the significance of the competition. The event is divided into five categories, with an impressive total prize pool of SAR10,260,000, marking the highest prize offering since the competition's inception.
