Saudi Arabia Wins Hosting of UNCTAD Global Supply Chain Forum 2026

Riyadh, The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has announced that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has won the bid to host the UNCTAD Global Supply Chain Forum in 2026, which bolsters the Kingdom's position and leadership as a global logistics hub and an international center connecting three continents. Minister of Transport and Logistic Services and Chairman of Mawani Eng. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser said that hosting this pioneering event reflects the Kingdom's prominent status in the global arena and its significant influence within international organizations. He highlighted the wise leadership's commitment to supporting the transport and logistics services system to achieve its development and service projects and initiatives, aligning with the ambitious targets of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy under the Saudi Vision 2030. He added that winning the bid to host the UNCTAD Global Supply Chain Forum in 2026 is a testament to the remarkable efforts in the ports and supply chain sector. It also reflec ts the growth in capacities and operational efficiency, as well as the investments made by Mawani to develop infrastructure and maritime services in partnership with the private sector. The increased connectivity of the Kingdom's ports with global ports, along with the significant growth in strategic partnerships with major global shipping lines, contributed to adding new shipping services that link the Kingdom with the continents of the world and support trade, export activities, and connections with international markets. Mawani President Omar bin Talal Hariri explained that this achievement reflects the success of efforts to develop logistics service standards, support global trade, adopt the best innovative technologies in the maritime and logistics services sector, and employ artificial intelligence to enhance services provided to beneficiaries, which would contribute to ensuring a more inclusive and sustainable future for global supply chains. The UNCTAD Global Supply Chain Forum is a unique global ev ent and a pivotal gathering that brings together leaders, experts, and international organizations to shape the future of global trade. It also serves as a global dialogue platform aimed at stimulating investment in sustainable development areas and shaping the international investment environment in alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
