Transport General Authority Conducts Competency Exam for Marine Engineer Officers

General

Riyadh: The Transport General Authority (TGA) has recently conducted a written competency exam for 26 aspiring marine engineer officers. This exam, aligned with Regulation 3/1 of the 1978 International Convention on Standard of Training Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW), as amended, ensures these national candidates possess the skills and knowledge to operate vessels effectively and safely.

To qualify for the exam, candidates must demonstrate a strong academic foundation in relevant fields, complete specialized maritime training courses, and gain practical experience by serving on approved training vessels. Passing both the written exams and a subsequent oral assessment will grant them a coveted certificate of competency, officially recognizing their skills as marine engineer officers.

This move aligns with the national transport and logistics strategy to enhance the maritime transport sector.
