SDAIA Launches ALLaM Challenge to Advance Arabic Language Models

The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) launched yesterday the ALLaM Challenge, inviting developers to create innovative applications using its ALLaM Arabic Large Language Model to increase the capabilities of the Arabic language in fields like poetry, sentence parsing, education, and dialogue simulation.

ALLaM, available on IBM’s watsonx platform, is a cutting-edge generative AI model serving Arabic speakers worldwide.

This initiative aligns with SDAIA’s efforts to build national AI capabilities and promote the Arabic language.

Participants in the ALLaM Challenge will have access to training opportunities and workshops held by AI experts and literature specialists. The winners will be announced in October and awarded prizes worth up to SAR1 million.

By fostering innovation in the Arabic language and harnessing AI technologies, SDAIA seeks to position the Arabic language as a vibrant and widely used language. The challenge also aims to attract and develop talent in advanced technologi
