WHO Urges Immediate Protection for Gaza Hospitals Amid Evacuation Orders

Gaza: The World Health Organization (WHO) has urgently called for the protection of Nasser Medical Center and Al-Amal Hospital in the Gaza Strip, following evacuation orders issued by the Israeli occupation army in June. The organization highlights the dire situation facing the health sector in Gaza, emphasizing the critical need for these hospitals to remain operational.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the WHO warned that the health sector in Gaza is on the brink of complete collapse, with no functioning hospitals currently available in northern Gaza. The absence of these facilities means that residents will lose access to essential health services, including cancer care, dialysis, emergency care for the increasing number of injured and wounded, life-saving surgeries, and blood bank services.

The WHO has stressed the importance of maintaining the operation of the remaining partially functioning hospitals in Gaza. Currently, there are 17 hospitals still operational out of an original 36 prior to the onset of the conflict.

Furthermore, the organization has called for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, as well as the facilitation of humanitarian aid and medical supplies through all available channels to address the escalating crisis.
