Riyadh: Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed Al-Yamahi welcomed the British prime minister's announcement of his country's intention to recognize the State of Palestine in September, urging that the recognition be unconditional and not obstructed by the occupying authorities. During his meeting with Speaker of the UK House of Commons Lindsay Hoyle on the sidelines of the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, Al-Yamahi emphasized that Britain bears a historical responsibility toward the Palestinian people. He stated that recognizing the Palestinian state is the only path to achieving security and stability in the Middle East.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Al-Yamahi called on the British House of Commons to support the implementation of the prime minister's announcement, noting that such a move would encourage other countries to follow suit. Hoyle reaffirmed Britain's commitment to a two-state solution, the establishment of a Palestinian state, and the cessation of settlement activities. He stressed that the immediate priorities are an unconditional ceasefire and the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid.
