Saudi Camels Take Top Places at Opening of Crown Prince Camel Festival in Taif

Riyadh: Saudi Camels secured a commanding victory on the opening day of the 2025 Crown Prince Camel Festival, winning 25 out of 31 rounds in the Haqqa category. The seventh annual edition of the festival, organized by the Saudi Camel Federation, began today at the historic Taif field with total prizes exceeding SAR50 million.



According to Saudi Press Agency, the opening day’s 31 rounds saw the participation of 1,495 camels. Saudi Arabia’s camels won 25 races, while Qatar won four, the UAE won one, and Kuwait won one. A camel named “Watan,” owned by Saudi Khalil Salem Al-Bateen, recorded the best time of the day at 3:02.066 minutes.



The Crown Prince Camel Festival is a major event that attracts camel racing enthusiasts from across the region, aiming to preserve and promote camel heritage as a vital part of Saudi culture. The camel sector receives significant support from His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, reflecting an ambitious vision for its development.
