Saudi Students Secure Historic Grand Prizes at Geneva Inventions Exhibition

Riyadh: Saudi students, supported by Tuwaiq Academy and the Ministry of Education, achieved historic milestones at the 2026 International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva. Al-Jawhara Al-Qahtani became the first Saudi to win the global Grand Prize for general education for her AI medical platform "PulMind," while Sari Al-Qahtani secured the Grand Prize in the 12-15 age category for his patented robotic exploration system. The Saudi delegation also brought home an array of gold and silver medals for innovations ranging from solar cell analyzers to ISS air leak repairs, reflecting the success of the Kingdom's intensive national talent preparation programs. According to Saudi Press Agency, underscoring its commitment to global tech leadership, the Cabinet has designated 2026 as the Year of Artificial Intelligence. Since 2019, Saudi Arabia has rapidly advanced its digital ecosystem, ranking 14th in the 2025 Global AI Index and establishing massive infrastructure like the 480-megawatt Hexagon data center. Operatin g at peak capacity during the holy month of Ramadan, the Kingdom's advanced crowd management and digital systems facilitated the safe reception of over 96.6 million worshippers at the Two Holy Mosques within just 20 days. Simultaneously, the Kingdom continues its expansive humanitarian mission. In Riyadh, medical teams successfully separated Somali conjoined twins in a 12-hour surgery-the 68th success of its kind. Globally, KSrelief marked International Women's Day by highlighting its execution of 1,244 women-focused projects worth nearly $1 billion, supporting over 233 million women in crisis zones. At the MIPIM 2026 Global Urban Festival, the King Salman Park Foundation awarded its fifth investment package, worth SAR11 billion, to develop a mixed-use urban area. A fourth package worth SAR3.2 billion was also awarded, bringing total private sector investments in the park to over SAR20 billion. The period by numbers also highlights significant achievements. The Makkah transport sector served 31 million pass engers in just the first third of Ramadan, while 15,333 cubic meters of Zamzam water were consumed at the Two Holy Mosques in the first 10 days of Ramadan. The Haramain High-Speed Railway operated over 140 daily trips during the last 10 days of the holy month to handle peak demand, and data traffic at the Prophet's Mosque surged by 40%, seamlessly processed by stc group. Saudi Energy reported SAR102.2 billion in operating revenues for 2025, marking a 15.3% increase, while Saudi Arabia's new global ranking as a premier mining investment destination in the Fraser Institute survey rose by 13 positions. Year-on-year growth in container throughput at Saudi ports reached 20.89% in February 2026, and 15.2 million packages were delivered across the Kingdom to meet massive e-commerce demand during Ramadan. Additionally, SAR1.3 billion was deposited by SDRPY into the Yemeni Finance Ministry to stabilize the macroeconomy, and 1.31 million tons of poultry meat were produced locally to ensure national food security.
