Riyadh: The General Authority for Foreign Trade (GAFT) organized a workshop on the International Harmonized System on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 14-15, 2026, at its headquarters in Riyadh. The event saw the participation of more than 40 representatives from 15 government entities and the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council. This initiative is part of GAFT's efforts to enhance awareness of internatioal trade systems.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the workshop aimed at introducing the International Harmonized System for the coding and classification of goods. It also focused on boosting the knowledge of members of the Saudi technical negotiating team for goods and rules of origin, alongside specialists involved in trade processing systems.
Over the course of the two days, the workshop provided an introduction to the Harmonized System, detailing its structure, numbering, and general interpretive rules.
