Riyadh: On the occasion of International Day of Women in Industry on April 21, the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources affirmed women's growing role in the industrial development journey, noting that the official adoption of this day came during the 21st General Conference of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), held in Riyadh last year, reflecting international consensus on the importance of enhancing women's participation in the industrial sector.
According to Saudi Press Agency, International Day of Women in Industry represents an international milestone for renewing commitment to supporting women's participation in the industrial sector and enhancing their presence in the industrial transformation journey, as an opportunity to highlight their contributions to supporting innovation, improving production efficiency, and building more sustainable and competitive industrial systems.
The Ministry noted that the Kingdom is keeping pace with this direction through adopting specialized programs to qualify and empower female cadres in the industrial sector, with recent years witnessing notable growth in the number of women working in the sector as a result of developing technical training and qualification programs and expanding employment opportunities in value-added industries.
The Ministry affirmed that International Day of Women in Industry reflects the Kingdom's commitment to supporting international efforts aimed at empowering women in the industrial sector and enhancing their presence as a key partner in the sustainable industrial development journey.
