INSO 2026 Emphasizes Nuclear Technology’s Role in Global Challenges

Jeddah: The third edition of the International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO 2026), hosted in Jeddah, highlights the peaceful applications of nuclear science and technology as a scientific pillar supporting sustainable development and innovative solutions to global challenges in energy, healthcare, food, water, industry, and the environment, while also seeking to develop the scientific capabilities of the next generation in this vital field.

According to Saudi Press Agency, INSO 2026, hosted at King Abdulaziz University and organized by the Ministry of Education, the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), and the King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (KACARE), brings together around 120 students and specialists from 19 countries.

The event serves as an international scientific platform to promote knowledge-based competition, facilitate the exchange of expertise, and showcase the peaceful uses of nuclear technologies in line with the highest scientific standards.

Mawhiba Secretary-General Abdulaziz Al-Karidis said the Kingdom's hosting of INSO 2026 in Jeddah marks a significant milestone reflecting its growing standing in supporting advanced sciences and nurturing gifted talent. He attributed this to the leadership's continued support and its commitment to developing human capital and investing in national talent.

He added that INSO 2026 helps raise awareness of the pivotal role of nuclear science and technology and their peaceful applications in serving humanity and advancing sustainable development.

Jeddah's hosting of the international scientific event reflects Saudi Arabia's growing prominence in advancing science and future technologies and in fostering an environment that encourages innovation and scientific excellence.

It also reinforces the Kingdom's position as a regional and global hub for developing talent, promoting international scientific cooperation, and advancing the peaceful applications of nuclear science for the benefit of humanity and a more sustainable future.
