Saudi Arabia and Allies Condemn Israeli Actions in Gaza

Riyadh: The ministers of foreign affairs from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Indonesia, Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkey have issued a joint statement condemning the ongoing Israeli violations in the Gaza Strip. They specifically criticized the targeting of healthcare facilities, attacks on civilian infrastructure, and the continued loss of civilian lives, including women and children, which they claim violate international law.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the ministers emphasized that these actions breach Israel's obligations under international law and the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict. They warned that such violations undermine international efforts, particularly following US President Donald Trump's announcement that Palestinian factions accepted the proposed roadmap. The ministers expressed concerns that these actions could derail the political process and exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

The statement highlighted the legal obligations to protect civilians, safeguard medical facilities and personnel, and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid throughout Gaza. The ministers noted that these obligations should not be compromised under any circumstances.

The ministers connected the violations in Gaza to broader issues, such as attacks by settlers in the occupied West Bank and the expansion of settlements. They argued that these actions collectively undermine the two-state solution and violate international law and UN resolutions.

Furthermore, the ministers urged the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to take effective measures to compel Israel to meet its international obligations. They called for accountability for those responsible for violations, aiming to protect civilians and achieve a permanent ceasefire.

Lastly, the ministers rejected any attempts to annex Palestinian territory or impose Israeli sovereignty over it. They advocated for a political process leading to a two-state solution, with an independent Palestinian State based on 1967 lines and East Jerusalem as its capital.
