Taif: The "Al-Laqaya" category, the second age category in the eighth edition of the Crown Prince Camel Festival 2026, will begin tomorrow, Sunday, at the historic Taif Camel Racing Track, with total prize money of SAR10.85 million distributed over three days.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the category includes 64 races, each covering 4 kilometers, for a total distance of 256 kilometers over three days. Held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the festival will continue until September 13. It is organized by the Saudi Camel Racing Federation, with total prize money exceeding SAR50 million.
The Al-Laqaya races will conclude next Tuesday with six rounds for the Crown Prince Camel Festival Cups, offering SAR5.7 million in prizes. The festival continues to promote camel racing as an authentic heritage and a major sporting and economic sector, while boosting tourism and commerce in Taif and enhancing Saudi Arabia's international standing in camel racing.
