Jeddah: Jointly organized by the Chinese Consulate, UNA, and Xinhua, a Chinese-Saudi media seminar explored ways to enhance media cooperation and exchange expertise. The Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Jeddah, the Xinhua News Agency branch in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA) organized the event to mark the first anniversary of the Global Governance Initiative.
According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the seminar discussed topics related to relations and cooperation between the People's Republic of China and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The discussions highlighted recent communications between the Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and Chinese President Xi Jinping. The seminar, attended by notable figures including the Chinese Consul General in Jeddah, Yang Yi, and the Director General of the Ministry of Information branch in the Makkah region, Professor Abdulkhaliq bin Abdullah Al-Zahrani, also covered the Chinese President's visit to Egypt, the Global Governance Initiative, and its alignment with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030.
The symposium addressed mechanisms to enhance media cooperation, aiming to expand the exchange and communication between media institutions in both countries. The Chinese Consul emphasized development paths between Saudi Arabia and China, focusing on strategic trust, exchange of governance experiences, and the importance of media cooperation in building communication bridges and fostering closer ties between their peoples.
Representatives of the Xinhua News Agency highlighted the need for direct communication between journalists and the exchange of visits and experiences. This initiative aims to deepen journalists' understanding of Saudi and Chinese societies. Xinhua also suggested more cooperation in training and qualification programs for media professionals.
The Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation expressed support for strengthening cooperation between Saudi and Chinese news agencies. It highlighted that media cooperation could serve as a model for collaboration between the Islamic world and China through news exchange, joint programs, development of media professionals' capabilities, and use of modern technologies and artificial intelligence.
The symposium featured presentations of real Chinese-Saudi narratives to promote rapprochement between the two peoples.
