Jeddah: The General Authority for Competition (GAC) highlighted the role of competition policies in empowering the industrial sector during the Saudi Industry Forum (SIF 2026), held in Jeddah from September 14 to 16 under the theme "Innovation for Sustainability." These policies contribute to improving market efficiency, stimulating innovation and productivity, and enhancing the competitiveness of national industries.
According to Saudi Press Agency, during a presentation, GAC Executive Director of Economic Studies and Markets Walid Alzahrani said that competition helps create a fair and investment-friendly market environment. It encourages businesses to develop their products and operations and improve efficiency, thereby supporting industrial growth and enhancing their ability to access domestic and international markets.
Alzahrani also outlined GAC's tools for protecting competition and empowering the industrial sector. These include enforcing the Competition Law, monitoring markets, addressing complaints and reports, reviewing economic concentrations, conducting market and sector studies, and reviewing relevant laws and regulations in cooperation with the competent authorities.
