Jeddah: The General Court of Audit (GCA), represented by Executive Vice President of Financial Audit Lama bint Abdulaziz Alhammadi and a group of GCA officials, took part in the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI)-Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Leadership Forum. The forum, titled 'Auditing for Development Projects,' commenced today in Jeddah, Makkah Region. It included participation from heads of supreme audit institutions from various Arab countries, representatives from the World Bank, development banks, and numerous international organizations.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Alhammadi, delivering remarks on behalf of GCA President Dr. Hussam bin Abdulmohsen Alangari, stated that safeguarding public resources and maximizing their developmental impact are crucial responsibilities of supreme audit institutions. She emphasized the need for effective partnerships between these institutions and multilateral development banks to ensure development resources are used effectively and transparently. Alhammadi affirmed GCA's readiness to support efforts in establishing partnerships and effective cooperation between supreme audit institutions and development banks, including exchanging digital audit tools and expertise, and facilitating knowledge sharing through joint training initiatives.
The forum's first panel discussion, 'Emerging Trends and Good Practices in Auditing Development Projects,' featured Ahmed bin Sameer Alqurashi, Executive Director of GCA's Makkah Region Branch. Alqurashi highlighted GCA's efforts to adopt emerging trends in auditing development projects, directing audit work toward issues of significance and impact. He also noted the developmental impact of projects through understanding their objectives, risks, and intended outcomes.
During the upcoming second panel discussion, titled 'Digital Innovation in Auditing,' Ahmed Alammari, Director of Audits in GCA's Financial Audit Sector, will review GCA's experience in employing modern technologies and artificial intelligence tools to conduct audit and follow-up activities through its digital audit system, Shamel. Alammari will also discuss the use of the Auditor's Smart Assistant, Aref, developed to assess compliance with quality standards in auditing and support comprehensive analytical audit reports.
