Riyadh: Canadian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Jean-Philippe Linteau commended Saudi Arabia's role in fostering international dialogue on artificial intelligence (AI) ethics during the fourth UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence in Riyadh, praising the efforts of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) and the International Center for AI Research and Ethics (ICAIRE).

According to Saudi Press Agency, Linteau expressed that participating alongside the Canadian delegation was an honor, highlighting Canada's global standing in AI driven by its research capabilities, trusted institutions, and practical applications of AI innovations. The forum, he added, serves as a critical platform for exchanging expertise, sharing knowledge, and enhancing international cooperation.

Linteau also emphasized his anticipation for advancing bilateral AI relations, referencing a memorandum of understanding signed during Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney's visit to Saudi Arabia in July. He noted that sustained joint efforts, expertise exchange, and leveraging opportunities from AI's rapid evolution are crucial.

The forum gathers governments, experts, researchers, institutions, and international organizations to address AI ethics challenges and develop responsible frameworks and practices.
