Attacks on Saudi Airports Result in Fatalities and Injuries

Riyadh:The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) reported that Abha International Airport and King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh were targeted by separate attacks on October 6 and 7, 2026. Emergency response teams and relevant authorities promptly addressed the incidents following established protocols and emergency plans.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the attack at Abha International Airport led to the deaths of two female residents from Morocco and Algeria. Additionally, 28 people sustained injuries, including Saudi citizens, a Bangladeshi resident, and a Filipino resident, with injuries varying from minor to serious.

The attack at King Khalid International Airport resulted in the death of a Sudanese resident. Eight others were injured, comprising five Saudi citizens, two Egyptian residents, and a Pakistani resident, with injuries ranging from minor to critical.

All injured individuals have been transported to hospitals for medical treatment. The attacks also caused some property damage at the airports.

GACA is collaborating with relevant authorities to assess the damage, verify the safety of the facilities, and implement measures to safeguard passengers and ensure the security and safety of operations within the Kingdom's civil aviation system.
