Celestial Alignment to Grace Arab Skies Before Dawn

Jeddah:The skies across the Arab world will present an astronomical spectacle before dawn tomorrow, featuring a waning crescent Moon, Regulus, Jupiter, and Mars aligning above the eastern horizon.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the alignment will be visible to the naked eye under clear skies. The President of the Jeddah Astronomy Society, Eng. Majed Abu Zahra, explained that the crescent Moon will appear low near the horizon, followed by Regulus and then Jupiter, with Mars positioned highest in the arrangement. The Moon's illuminated disk will be about 6% as it nears the new moon phase on October 10.

Eng. Abu Zahra noted that this alignment is apparent, stemming from the observer's perspective on Earth despite the significant distances between the celestial bodies. This arrangement is linked to their proximity to the ecliptic, near which the Sun, Moon, and most planets appear to move.
