Global Space Connectivity and Sustainability Events to Begin in Riyadh

Riyadh:The 'Global Space Connectivity and Sustainability Events' will commence on Monday in Riyadh under the theme "Connected Earth, Sustainable Space." Organized by the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) in collaboration with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the event will be held at CST's headquarters over three days. It brings together the Connecting the World from the Skies Forum (NTN) and the Space Sustainability Forum (SSF), marking their third editions.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the event is under the patronage of Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha, who also chairs the CST Board. It aims to explore international trends for the future of satellite connectivity and foster the integration of Terrestrial and Non-Terrestrial Networks. Participants will review the latest regulatory and technical developments in Non-Terrestrial Networks, focusing on expanding connectivity and bridging the global digital divide. Additionally, the event will address space sustainability and the responsible use of space resources through the exchange of expertise and best practices.

Key sessions at the event will cover topics such as Integrated Connectivity for the 6G Era, preparations for WRC-27, and the potential of Direct-to-Device (D2D) Satellite Connectivity. Discussions will also include Space Economies, Emerging Markets, and Space as Critical Infrastructure. Other significant topics on the agenda are Space-Enabled Sustainability on Earth, Global Governance and Responsible Behavior in Space, and strategies for Managing Congestion, Mitigating Interference, and Preventing Debris.

Attendees will have the opportunity to see the outcomes of leading technical trials and connectivity solutions via Non-Terrestrial Networks. The event will also feature the announcement of the winners of the Non-Terrestrial Networks International Research Competition (NTN 2026), organized by CST in collaboration with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
