Riyadh:The Royal Institute of Traditional Arts (Wrth) has announced that registration is now open for its Traditional Embroidery Apprenticeship Program. Interested candidates can apply through the institute's website until November 1. Personal interviews and practical admission tests are scheduled to take place from November 8 to 19.

According to Saudi Press Agency, this program provides specialized, hands-on training in embroidery, led by experienced artisans and specialists. It aims to prepare a new generation of practitioners dedicated to preserving and advancing the art of embroidery.

The comprehensive program will last 18 months and is divided into three training levels. It is set to commence on January 3, 2027, and will be conducted in person at Wrth's headquarters in Riyadh's Al-Futah neighborhood. Participants will learn about the history and fundamentals of embroidery, material selection, traditional stitches, sewing techniques, and hand-embroidery methods, empowering them to create designs that blend authenticity with modern elements.

Additionally, the program includes education on productivity analysis, time management, and the planning of craft-based entrepreneurial ventures, covering areas like feasibility studies, pricing, and marketing. This prepares participants either for employment in the field or for starting their own businesses.

Since its inception in 2021, Wrth has aimed to position itself as a unique cultural institution focused on training national talent passionate about traditional arts. The institute's strategy is centered on empowering, supporting, and developing the crafts and arts sector to ensure the preservation and sustainability of Saudi Arabia's cultural heritage.
