Hanoi:The Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Abdulrahman Alfadley, has launched 'Fitri,' a new national platform developed by the National Center for Wildlife (NCW). This digital system aims to improve data collection, analysis, and the geospatial linking of information regarding wildlife and natural habitats in Saudi Arabia.
According to Saudi Press Agency, The 'Fitri' platform includes three main components the Wildlife Rasid Explorer, the Wildlife Rasid app, and interactive dashboards. These components work together to manage the entire data lifecycle, from field data collection and documentation to management, spatial analysis, and presentation of indicators and maps that aid in decision-making.
The Wildlife Rasid Explorer acts as an interactive portal to a geospatial database, featuring eight layers of spatial data and 29 tools for searching, querying, analyzing, and mapping. It assists in measurements and field study planning.
The Wildlife Rasid app supports on-site biodiversity data collection, track recording, and offline use, offering over 10 services like interactive maps and report submissions.
Additionally, the platform's 12 interactive dashboards provide real-time environmental data and indicators through maps, images, and graphs, supporting wildlife management and habitat conservation decisions. Researchers, specialists, and wildlife enthusiasts can use the platform to monitor species, document sightings, and connect fieldwork with a centralized data system.
