Wrth Opens Registration for Embroidery Apprenticeship Program

Riyadh:The Royal Institute of Traditional Arts (Wrth) has commenced registration for its Traditional Embroidery Apprenticeship Program through its website, with the registration period open until November 1. Candidates will undergo personal interviews and practical admission tests scheduled from November 8 to 19.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the program offers specialized, hands-on training in embroidery under the guidance of experienced artisans and specialists. It aims to prepare a new generation of practitioners capable of preserving and developing this traditional art form.

The 18-month program is structured into three training levels, starting on January 3, 2027, and will be conducted in person at Wrth's headquarters located in Riyadh's Al-Futah neighborhood. Trainees will learn various aspects of embroidery, including its history and fundamentals, material selection, traditional stitches, sewing techniques, and hand-embroidery methods. This comprehensive curriculum is designed to equip participants with the skills necessary to design and develop products that blend authenticity with modernity.

In addition to technical skills, the program includes training in productivity analysis, time management, and planning craft-based entrepreneurial projects, covering everything from feasibility studies to pricing and marketing. This prepares trainees for employment in the field or enables them to establish their own businesses.

Wrth has been dedicated to becoming a distinctive cultural institution since 2021, focusing on training national talent passionate about traditional arts. The institute's strategy centers on empowering, supporting, and developing the crafts and arts sector to ensure the preservation and sustainability of Saudi Arabia's cultural heritage.
