Saudi Embassy in Washington Hosts ‘Mishwar’ Photography Exhibition

Washington:The Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Washington hosted the "Mishwar" international photography exhibition, in collaboration with Dar Al-Hekma University, American University, and the University of the District of Columbia. This event marks 20 years of cooperation in photography and student exchange among these institutions.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the exhibition's opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Chief of Mission Nawaf Alissa, embassy members, participating artists, and art enthusiasts. The exhibition displayed works by emerging artists from the three universities, offering visual narratives that connect Saudi Arabia and Washington. The photographs, inspired by the theme "Mishwar," meaning journey, encourage viewers to engage with and explore shared human connections.

Dar Al-Hekma University President Abeer Abdulaziz Aldoghaither highlighted that the exhibition features works by female students from various disciplines, including visual communication, and the university's photography club. The photographs document Saudi Arabia's cultural diversity and transformation, with images from locations such as Al-Balad, AlUla, and Diriyah. She expressed her gratitude to the Saudi Embassy for hosting the event in Washington.

Exhibition organizer Rania Abdel-Razek mentioned that the partnership among the universities began in 2006 with a photography student exchange program. The collaboration has continued with various exchange initiatives, and the exhibition was organized to celebrate the 20th anniversary of this partnership, coinciding with the United States' 250th anniversary of its founding.
