The Prime Minister meets with the Head of the Football Association and promises support for the professional league and the national team

Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani met with the Head of the Iraqi Football Association, Adnan Darjal, today, Thursday, in the capital, Baghdad.

The Head of the Football Association, according to the Association’s statement, expressed his great thanks for the Prime Minister’s support and his efforts to continuously sponsor the work of the Federation.

The President of the Federation also provided a detailed explanation to the Prime Minister about the Federation’s work strategy for the coming period, and presented an integrated study in all aspects regarding the establishment of the professional league and the first division in the next season in line with the government’s vision aimed at providing support to the clubs to succeed and move forward in the professional league, as it will happen. A qualitative shift in improving the status of Iraqi football, and it reflects positively on the performance of the national teams in international tournaments.

He explained that the professional league is the first stop that will open distinctive horizons that serve Iraqi football in the long term, especially since the Prime Minister is interested in the professional league project and its success and sustainability, because it is one of the basic pillars for the desired development.

The Prime Minister expressed the government’s readiness to overcome all the difficulties facing the Association’s journey, provide all the requirements for success to the national teams, and prepare all means of support for the professional league, the clubs, and the national team in order to reach the 2026 World Cup, indicating that success will be achieved through concerted efforts to reach the set goals.
