AlUla Highlights Cultural Heritage on International Day

AlUla:AlUla is celebrating the International Day of the Intangible Cultural Heritage by emphasizing the customs, crafts, and folk knowledge passed down through its community over generations.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the governorate's living legacy includes handicrafts, folk arts, oral narratives, traditional farming knowledge, and customs of hospitality, all shaped by the people's connection to the land. Beyond its archaeological sites and inscriptions, these traditions form a significant part of AlUla's cultural identity.

The Royal Commission for AlUla is actively supporting artisans by enhancing their skills and reviving traditional crafts and arts. This initiative provides younger generations with opportunities to learn these practices. Local residents play a crucial role as custodians of these traditions, while cultural events in the governorate offer visitors the chance to experience them directly.

UNESCO observes this day each October 17 to promote the safeguarding of intangible heritage, celebrate cultural diversity, and encourage its transmission to future generations.
