Arab Countries Praise Saudi Initiative at UNESCO’s First Arab Week.

Paris: The Arab Group at the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has lauded the Saudi National Committee for Education, Culture, and Science for successfully organizing the first Arab Week at UNESCO. The initiative was held in Paris on November 4 and 5, marking a significant milestone for the UNESCO Arab Group.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the Arab Group expressed its gratitude to Saudi Arabia for spearheading the initiative. The group commended the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in advancing the region’s efforts in education, culture, and science.

Additionally, the group acknowledged Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Minister of Culture and Chair of the Saudi National Committee for Education, Culture, and Science, for his unwavering support and effective implementation of the initiative. This event marked the first UNESCO Arab
gathering under Saudi Arabia’s leadership.

The Arab Group also extended appreciation to the participating Arab countries for their active contributions. Their collective efforts were instrumental in coordinating and ensuring the event’s success. The initiative is anticipated to pave the way for long-term cultural prosperity between Arab countries and the global community, fostering stronger cultural connections.

The closing statement highlighted that the Arab Week at UNESCO, the first event of its kind in the 70-year history of Arab engagement with UNESCO, signifies the mutual trust and respect among Arab nations. It underscores their commitment to fostering significant cultural initiatives.

During the event, representatives from 22 Arab countries showcased various aspects of their tangible and intangible cultural heritage. The program included several seminars where officials and experts discussed vital cultural topics, alongside four exhibitions focusing on Arabic culture, calligraphy, heritage sites, an
d Arab products.
