Riyadh: The 15th meeting of the Arab League's Intellectual Property and Competitiveness Unit convened today at the headquarters of the Arab League Secretariat: The meeting was organized by the Intellectual Property and Competition Unit, chaired by Algeria, and attended by government officials responsible for intellectual-property (IP) offices across Arab countries, including industrial property offices and copyright and related rights offices.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Saudi Arabia was represented by Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property Designs Program Director Turki Al-Hazmi. In her opening remarks, Arab League Intellectual Property and Competitiveness Department Director Dr. Maha Bakhit highlighted that the two-day agenda includes key topics such as the establishment of an Arab electronic IP registry platform supported by the World Intellectual Property Organization, the launch of a regional network of technology and innovation support centers in Arab countries, and addressing challenges related to copyright and related rights, particularly in light of developments in artificial intelligence.
