Arafat: Arafat stands as one of the most significant sacred sites and the foremost pillar of Hajj, without which the pilgrimage is invalid. As Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, 'Hajj is Arafah.' Today, on the ninth of Dhu Al-Hijjah, pilgrims will gather in this sacred location in a majestic display of faith and devotion, uniting their hearts and souls in worship of Allah Almighty. According to Saudi Press Agency, located about 18 kilometers from the Grand Mosque in Makkah, 10 kilometers from Mina, and 6 kilometers from Muzdalifah, the plain of Arafat spans roughly five square kilometers. Encircled by a crescent of mountains, the area is known for its spiritual calm and tranquil atmosphere, distinguishing it from other Hajj sites. It has no permanent residents, and pilgrims do not spend the night there. The designated time for standing at Arafat extends from after noon on the ninth day of Dhu Al-Hijjah until dawn on the tenth. For centuries, Arafat has borne witness to the convergence of pilgrims fr om all corners of the world, arriving under varied conditions and means of transportation. In earlier times, simple tents and traditional modes of travel made the journey challenging, underscoring its spiritual depth. In recent decades, however, Arafat has undergone a remarkable transformation. Under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the Saudi government has implemented extensive development projects as part of Vision 2030, aiming to elevate the quality of services for the pilgrims. As part of these efforts, Kidana Development Company shaded and developed 85,000 square meters of the Namira Mosque courtyard with 320 canopies and 350 misting columns, in addition to planting trees to enhance the pilgrims' experience. Another 60,000 square meters were designated for shaded, cooled walkways equipped with misting fans to mitigate the heat and ensure pilgrims' c omfort. Arafat is currently witnessing a strong presence of government agencies across the security, medical, and municipal sectors. Jabal Al-Rahma Hospital is fully operational, supported by health centers and first-aid stations strategically placed to handle emergencies and provide immediate care. Crowd control is managed through advanced electronic systems, while multilingual awareness and guidance teams are deployed throughout the site. The Arafat sermon will be simultaneously translated into 34 languages, ensuring widespread accessibility. Smart applications are in use to help pilgrims navigate the area, locate themselves, and follow a schedule for grouping and transportation. Each year, Arafat becomes a powerful symbol of the unity of the Islamic nation and a sacred space where the ultimate goals of Hajj are realized. Here, the Kingdom reaffirms its unwavering commitment to serving Islam and Muslims by mobilizing every resource to serve the pilgrims.
