Riyadh: Governor of Aseer Region Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz launched the Aseer Summer Season 2025 today, building on the region's expanding tourism sector, which welcomed nearly eight million visitors in 2024. The season aims to reinforce Aseer's status as a premier year-round tourist destination by leveraging its natural beauty and cultural richness.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the summer program offers a diverse range of entertainment, cultural, and sporting events, alongside tourism experiences that showcase the region's landscapes and heritage. Activities include outdoor adventures, heritage festivals, nature-based excursions, camping, and family-friendly entertainment.
Facilitating this tourism growth is a robust air travel network centered on Abha International Airport, which operates around 348 weekly flights. The airport connects to 11 regular direct destinations-both domestic and international-served by nine national and international airlines. Destinations include Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Madinah, Tabuk, Cairo, Kuwait, Doha, Dubai, Sharjah, and Sohag.
In a key development, the 'Discover Aseer' digital platform is launched to highlight major tourist attractions in the region. It provides information on historical landmarks, museums, cultural centers, parks, farms, souqs, entertainment complexes, camping areas, restaurants, cafes, and accommodations, helping visitors plan and personalize their travel experiences.
