Riyadh: The Association of Secretaries General of Arab Parliaments held its 47th meeting via videoconference, chaired by Secretary-General of the Shura Council and Chairman of the Association Mohammed Al-Mutairi. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 39th Conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, hosted by Saudi Arabia.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Al-Mutairi welcomed the secretaries-general of Arab parliaments and expressed his hopes for a successful meeting and fruitful outcomes that would contribute to advancing joint parliamentary work.
Participants discussed activating research and information centers to support parliamentary decision-making and enhance legislative performance. They also reviewed several agenda items aimed at strengthening cooperation and developing mechanisms for administrative and technical support to Arab parliaments and councils.
The discussions focused on advancing parliamentary work and supporting the aspirations of Arab legislative institutions. The association seeks to enhance the performance of the general secretariats of Arab parliaments, keep pace with technological developments, support Arab, regional, and international parliamentary work, promote the exchange of expertise and best practices with parliamentary institutions worldwide, and encourage participation in regional and international conferences and forums.
