Falconry, a heritage deeply rooted in the Arabian Peninsula, has been passed down through generations, defining the region’s culture in a traditional sport that has not only shaped the region’s identity, but has also inspired countless poetic works.
Poet and falconer Hasher Al-Otaibi from Al-Lith Governorate, Makkah Region, embodies this passion. Since the 1990s, he has been captivated by hunting and falconry, finding solace and joy in the sport. His poetic works eloquently express his deep affection for falcons and the art of falconry.
This year’s International Saudi Falcons and Hunting Exhibition, held recently in Malham, north of Riyadh, showcased the enduring appeal of falconry. With over 400 exhibitors from 45 countries, the event attracted falcon enthusiasts and fans from around the globe.
