US President Joe Biden announced that he intends to visit Vietnam soon because Hanoi wants to improve relations with Washington.
Biden said in a press statement: “I will go to Vietnam soon because Hanoi wants to change its relations with us and become a partner with us. We are in a situation where all these changes are happening in the world and we have room for a reasonable change in the dynamics.”
Biden said at the end of July that his Brazilian and Vietnamese colleagues had expressed their desire to meet with him, and claimed at the time that the Vietnamese leadership wanted to put Washington in the position of “the main partner on an equal footing with Russia and China.”
