Commerce and Sport Ministers Participate in Roundtable on Saudi-British Sports Cooperation

London: Minister of Commerce and Chair of the Economic and Social Committee of the Saudi-British Strategic Partnership Council Majid Al-Kassabi affirmed Tuesday in London that the vision launched by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has brought about transformations in the Saudi economy and created promising opportunities across several vital sectors.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the minister's remarks came during a roundtable on British-Saudi sports cooperation organized by the National Competitiveness Center (NCC) in cooperation with the United Kingdom (UK) Department for Business and Trade. During the roundtable -- which saw the attendance of 130 public- and private-sector officials from both countries, led by Saudi Minister of Sport Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal and UK Minister of State for Creative Industries, Arts and Tourism Sir Chris Bryant -- Al-Kassabi stated that the Saudi-British partnership is exceptional.

He noted that the UK is the world's second-largest services exporter, and both countries can collaborate to establish a global integration framework spanning sports, tourism, culture, arts, and technology - sectors that have become a universal language needing no translation. The roundtable focused on introducing companies to promising opportunities arising from Saudi Arabia's hosting of international sports events, such as the 2034 FIFA World Cup.

It also addressed potential cooperation in sectors supporting sports, including technology, infrastructure, construction, facility operations, and the planning and execution of major events. The Saudi delegation accompanying the commerce minister began its program with a field visit to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and its facilities, where they reviewed the site's capabilities and its experience in hosting entertainment and sports events.
