Riyadh: Combined Task Force 150 (CTF-150), currently under the command of the Royal Saudi Naval Forces, has successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics during operations conducted within its area of responsibility. The operation, part of the focused ‘Al Masmak’ campaign, was carried out under the leadership and coordination of CTF-150 within the framework of international efforts to combat drug trafficking and illicit activities on the high seas.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Commander of CTF-150 Rear Admiral (Commodore) Fahad Al-Joaid stated that the Pakistani naval vessel Yarmook executed one of the most successful drug seizures in the history of the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF), intercepting two vessels within less than 48 hours. The operation resulted in the confiscation of significant quantities of methamphetamine (crystal meth) from the first vessel and a mix of methamphetamine and cocaine from the second.
Rear Admiral Al-Joaid emphasized that the success of Operation Al Masmak highlights the importance of international cooperation and joint action in strengthening maritime security and countering illicit activities. He noted that the achievement reflects the CMF’s continued commitment to combating drug trafficking and organized crime, contributing to the security and stability of maritime routes, protecting regional and international interests, and ensuring the freedom of navigation.
