Riyadh:According to Saudi Press Agency, the Cultural Development Fund has signed a financing agreement with Rotana Media Group to support the production of films and television series in Saudi Arabia, with a combined value exceeding SAR39 million. The partnership is intended to enhance the presence of Saudi talent on screen and boost the country's film industry.

The agreement will facilitate the production of films and television series across various genres, including social comedy, drama, and action. It is expected to feature prominent Saudi actors, contribute over SAR72 million to the gross domestic product, and create 68 job opportunities to nurture national talent. Private-sector contributions are anticipated to surpass SAR12 million.

The Cultural Development Fund, acting as a center for financial excellence in the cultural sector, signed the agreement as part of the Kingdom's rapidly expanding film industry. In 2025, box-office revenues surpassed SAR920 million, marking nearly a 9% increase from 2024. Saudi films contributed approximately 13% of these revenues, exceeding SAR122 million, with 11 films out of 538 released that year, according to reports by the Film Commission.

These developments highlight the increasing presence of local productions and the promising opportunities within the sector. The fund remains committed to supporting this growth by offering financial solutions and enabling sector projects, encouraging private sector engagement, and contributing to the cultural sector's ongoing economic impact.
