Jeddah: The Sharqia Development Authority, in partnership with the Heritage Commission, is leading the ongoing rehabilitation and restoration project for Dareen Palace and Dareen Heritage Village. This initiative aims to preserve the region's historical and architectural heritage while enhancing its cultural and tourist profile.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Mayor of Eastern Region Eng. Fahad Aljubair and Acting CEO of the authority Dr. Talal Almaghlouth visited the project yesterday. They received a presentation detailing the project's phases, proposed rehabilitation efforts, and historical documentation of Dareen Palace and the old town. The presentation included aerial photographs, planning maps, and an overview of the waterfront and archaeological areas, highlighting key outputs such as the restoration vision and current implementation stages, including stone treatment and construction work.
Now 50% complete, the project comprises five phases: preliminary works, status studies, design and execution plans, restoration, and finalization to meet standards and operational tests.
This initiative seeks to revive Eastern Region's historical identity, transforming the village into an attractive heritage, cultural, and tourist destination, thereby supporting the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 in preserving national heritage and showcasing the Kingdom's civilizational depth.
