Exceptional Crowd Management Plan for Prophet’s Mosque Taraweeh Prayers

Medina: Taraweeh prayers on the night marking the completion of the Holy Quran at The Prophet's Mosque represent an early peak in crowd density, as large numbers of worshippers begin arriving from the afternoon hours. This creates a deeply spiritual scene that reflects smooth crowd flow, precise organization, and a high level of care for visitors' comfort and safety.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the efforts of the General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques were evident through the early implementation of the operational plan. This included preparing prayer areas within the mosque and its courtyards, organizing pathways, and deploying field teams at guidance points.

These measures helped accommodate the steadily increasing influx of worshippers and reduce congestion at entrances. Crowd flow management mechanisms were activated with high efficiency by directing worshippers to less crowded areas, utilizing the mosque's and its courtyards' full capacity, and regulating entry and exit routes - ensuring balanced crowd distribution and ease of access to prayer areas.

General Manager of Crowd Services at the authority for the Prophet's Mosque Eng. Mohammed Fageehi explained that the authority operates in coordination and integration to enhance cooperation among all entities involved in serving the mosque's visitors. Efforts have been intensified to strengthen organizational and service aspects, including reinforcing guidance points, increasing field teams, and maintaining high readiness to handle various situations, thereby supporting the smooth and efficient execution of operational plans, he said.

Supporting services were also provided to enhance worshippers' comfort, including the provision of drinking water, continuous sanitization, carpet maintenance, and facilitating mobility for the elderly and persons with disabilities, Fageehi said. The efforts reflect an integrated operational system managed according to high standards of efficiency and coordination. They enable large numbers of worshippers to perform Taraweeh prayers on the night of the Quran completion, in an atmosphere characterized by organization, smooth flow, and tranquility - embodying the ongoing commitment to serving visitors to the Prophet's Mosque and affirming the operational system's readiness to handle peak crowd levels with efficiency and professionalism.
