Minister of Finance and Chair of the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) Mohammed Al-Jadaan on Monday participated in the Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE) Macro Week, in Washington, D.C., on the sidelines of the 2024 International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Group (WBG) Annual Meetings.
Speaking at the event, Al-Jadaan emphasized the need to strengthen multilateral action to address current challenges, and promote sustainable economic growth and human development. He noted that low-income nations are the most affected by challenges posed to the global community.
Al-Jadaan also noted that it is essential that international financial institutions continue to adjust quickly and decisively to solve tough global challenges such as poverty and inequality.
“MDBs need to increase their focus on capacity building, as well as provide the support and advice needed,” he said.
PIIE is one of the key global research organizations, providing policy analyses and practical sol
utions to strengthen the global economy resilience through the participation of elite specialists in this field. PIIE Macro Week convenes finance ministers, central bankers, government officials, and business leaders from around the world to discuss macroeconomic issues, as well as to explore ways to strengthen global economic stability and growth.
