Financial Times: America asks Iran to stop selling drones to Russia

The Financial Times newspaper reported, quoting informed sources, that the United States is pressuring Iran to stop selling drones to Russia as part of discussions on a broader “unwritten understanding” between Washington and Tehran.

Last week, Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdollahian stressed that Tehran “does not take sides in any war,” reiterating that his country has not provided any party with “weapons to use in the Ukraine war.”

The Iranian Minister stressed that “Russia is an important neighbor to the Islamic Republic of Iran,” and that his country interacts with the West and the East “within the framework of guaranteeing Iranian interests.”

Kiev and Western countries accuse Iran of providing Moscow with drones that it will use to bomb Ukraine, and while Tehran previously acknowledged providing weapons of this kind to Russia, it stressed that this happened before the start of the war in February 2022.
