Riyadh: The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) released yesterday its monthly report on the punctuality of airports and national carriers for March 2025. The report measures flight timeliness based on flights departing or arriving within 15 minutes of their scheduled time. This provides travelers with clear insight into airlines' and airports' adherence to schedules and is part of ongoing efforts to enhance service quality and improve the passenger experience.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the report indicated that King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Abha International Airport, AlUla International Airport, King Saud bin Abdulaziz Airport in Al-Baha, Dawadmi Airport, and Turaif Airport were among the top performers.
Airports were divided into five categories. Among international airports with over 15 million annual passengers, King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh achieved first place with a 93% punctuality rate. In the second group-international airports with five to 15 million annual passengers-King Fahd International Airport in Dammam ranked first, also with a 93% on-time performance. Abha International Airport led the third category of international airports with two to five million passengers annually, achieving a 95% punctuality. AlUla International Airport topped the fourth category-international airports with fewer than two million passengers-achieving a 97% compliance rate. Meanwhile, King Saud bin Abdulaziz Airport in Al-Baha, Dawadmi Airport, and Turaif Airport all achieved a 100% punctuality rate in the domestic airport category.
As for national airlines, Saudia ranked first with a 95% on-time arrival rate and 94% for departures. flynas recorded a 91% punctuality rate for both arrivals and departures, while flyadeal reported a 91% arrival rate and 94% departure rate.
The report also highlighted top-performing domestic and international routes. The Riyadh-Abha flight recorded a 98% on-time rate among domestic routes, while the Riyadh-Amman route topped international flights with a 99% punctuality rate.
These efforts are part of the National Aviation Strategy, which aims to strengthen the Kingdom's position as a leading regional hub in the aviation sector by improving operational standards, boosting efficiency, and raising the quality of services provided to travelers.
