Brussels: Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Albudaiwi met with European Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration Magnus Brunner to discuss strengthening Gulf-European ties and addressing recent regional developments. The two sides emphasized the importance of following up on the outcomes of the 1st GCC-EU Summit, specifically regarding Paragraph 24 of the summit statement, which prioritizes regional security cooperation and the establishment of annual coordination meetings to maintain joint strategic alignment.
According to Saudi Press Agency, during the meeting, Commissioner Brunner reaffirmed the European Union's support for GCC states against Iranian aggressions and expressed appreciation for the facilities provided by the council states to facilitate the evacuation of European nationals during the current crisis. The officials also explored several proposals aimed at further bolstering the GCC-EU partnership.
