Riyadh: Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Albudaiwi expressed his strongest condemnation of the brutal Iranian attacks targeting the Duqm commercial port in Oman and an oil tanker off its coast.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Albudaiwi stated that these assaults are a flagrant violation of Oman's sovereignty and pose a dangerous escalation that undermines regional security and stability. They also threaten the safety of maritime navigation and global energy supplies.

Albudaiwi further commented that the military operations launched by Iran against the council states reflect its intentions toward the GCC and the region. He highlighted that the GCC states had previously assured the Iranian regime, through various meetings, that they would not allow their territories or airspace to be used for military operations against Iran.

He emphasized that Iran's targeting of civilian facilities is a breach of international law, the United Nations Charter, and principles of good neighborliness.

Albudaiwi reiterated the GCC's full solidarity with Oman, supporting all measures it takes to protect its sovereignty, security, and stability. He reaffirmed the council's rejection of aggression targeting the security of its member states.
