GCC Secretary-General Engages Vietnamese Ambassador on Free Trade Agreement Prospects

Riyadh: Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Albudaiwi met with the Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Hoang Huu Anh, to discuss important bilateral agreements.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the meeting focused on the latest developments concerning the Terms of Reference (ToR) for a potential Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the GCC and Vietnam. Albudaiwi expressed optimism about the forthcoming signing of these ToR, viewing it as a precursor to formal FTA negotiations. The discussions also encompassed the review of GCC-Vietnamese cooperation, particularly within the framework of a memorandum of understanding established in 2023.

Additionally, the meeting addressed the proposed joint action plan for 2024-2028 between the GCC and Vietnam. Both parties considered the latest developments in regional and international matters as part of their ongoing collaboration efforts.
