Abu Dhabi: The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and Prophet's Mosque continues to provide comprehensive and high-quality services for all pilgrims, with a particular focus on ensuring that elderly worshippers and people with disabilities can perform their religious rituals at the Prophet's Mosque with ease and tranquility.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the presidency has designated prayer areas for the elderly and people with disabilities at the main entrances of the mosque. A dedicated prayer section has been allocated for the deaf community, supported by sign language interpretation during sermons, with Gate 6 on the western roof specifically assigned for their entry. Additionally, Quran copies in Braille are distributed throughout the mosque for visually impaired worshippers.
To further assist, electric golf carts and wheelchairs are available to aid movement within the mosque's corridors and courtyards, while manual wheelchairs are provided free of charge at Exits 309 and 343. Ramps have been installed at mosque entrances and facilities to facilitate access, alongside specially designed holders for Zamzam water dispensers positioned at a convenient height for wheelchair users.
The mosque is equipped with 180 elevators and 156 escalators across its courtyards and facilities, including 24 escalators within the mosque itself. Additionally, 62 restrooms have been designated for elderly worshippers and individuals with disabilities, with facilities divided between men's and women's sections.
