Taif:Between the ancient stones of Jabal Kara and the modern highways of today, Aqabat Al-Hada west of Taif showcases a rich history of human travel through challenging mountain terrain.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the story of this region began with the Darb Al-Jammalah, a trail used by travelers and caravans, which has since evolved into a modern highway. This route has become a crucial link between the highlands of Taif, Tihama, and Makkah.

On the slopes of Jabal Kara, two distinct historical chapters are evident. The ancient stone trail, known as Darb Al-Jammalah or Darb Kara, dates back over a thousand years and was designed to navigate the mountain's steep slopes. This path facilitated the movement of caravans, Hajj pilgrims, and traders between the Taif highlands and regions below the Sarawat Mountains.

The trail, once a significant route for commerce and pilgrimage, showcases how early travelers adapted to the mountainous landscape, shaping it to support travel and trade. Parts of the trail that remain today offer insight into the historical methods of transportation.

Latifa Al-Adwani, head of the Taif History Center, highlighted that Aqabat Kara is a vital part of Taif's historical memory. It signifies the movement of people from early historical periods between the highlands, Tihama, and Makkah, reflecting the past transportation methods and the resilience of those who navigated the rugged terrain of Jabal Kara.
