Holy Makkah Municipality Removes over 43,000 Tons of Waste in Five Days of Ramadan

Holy makkah: Holy Makkah Municipality continued intensive field operations during the first five days of Ramadan 1447 AH, implementing comprehensive cleaning and disinfection campaigns across Makkah, particularly in the central area, which witnesses high daily foot traffic. The efforts aim to enhance the urban landscape and environmental quality as part of the municipality's approved operational plan for the Ramadan season.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the municipality reported that from the 1st to the 5th of Ramadan, a total of 43,571.7 tons of waste were removed, including 19,658.4 tons of municipal solid waste and 23,913.3 tons of construction and demolition debris. The figures underscore the scale of daily operations carried out to maintain the city's cleanliness. Field teams conducted mechanical sweeping operations covering 3,198,466 linear meters of streets and washed 440 public sidewalks. They also maintained 752 waste containers and washed 2,905 additional containers, enhancing service readiness in neighborhoods and high-traffic areas.

The municipality affirmed that these efforts reflect its commitment to delivering comprehensive municipal services that meet the needs of residents, visitors, and pilgrims. The initiatives contribute to environmental sustainability, the reduction of visual pollution, and the overall improvement of the urban landscape, supporting the quality of life in Makkah.
