IFRC: Sudan Crisis Turning into Regional Catastrophe Amid Funding Decline

Beirut: The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) has warned that the ongoing conflict in Sudan is rapidly evolving into a broader regional humanitarian catastrophe.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the crisis has extended beyond Sudan's borders, severely impacting neighboring countries, including Chad, South Sudan, Egypt, Ethiopia, and Uganda. An estimated 4.5 million people have fled Sudan.

Sudanese refugees are facing acute shortages of essential resources such as water, food, and shelter, particularly in South Sudan and Chad, where humanitarian needs are escalating rapidly, while available funding continues to decline.

The situation is further compounded by supply chain disruptions, which are delaying the delivery of critical aid. This has intensified the urgency of the crisis and underscored the need for immediate and sustained international support.
