Manama, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Interior Minister, attended the annual meeting with the Hussaini Processions Authority and heads of maatem from all governorates today.
The meeting, which included the Chief of Public Security and Governors, underscored the Interior Ministry’s commitment to fostering community partnership and engaging with all segments of society.
Speaking at the event, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah thanked the attendees for accepting the invitation and highlighted the importance of this meeting for discussing and coordinating efforts for the successful organisation of this year’s Ashoora commemoration. He conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, who appreciate the dedication of those involved in organising the commemoration of Ashoora.
The Interior Minister stressed the importance of coordination with all relevant authorities to ensure a
secure and safe Ashoora commemoration. He expressed his gratitude to the Jaafari Endowments and heads of maatem for their commitment to preserving Ashoora rituals, noting that these religious events foster togetherness and tolerance.
He emphasised Bahrain’s rich cultural heritage, which embraces various religions and sects and promotes cohesion and harmony. He highlighted the responsibility to protect Ashoora from regional disruptions and stressed the need for collective efforts to safeguard Bahrain’s social fabric. He assured that Bahrain has qualified preachers and reciters to lead Ashoora rituals, upholding responsible religious discourse and Islamic values. He concluded by commending the attendees’ efforts, which reflect the spirit of social cohesion and cooperation in Bahrain.
Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, the Capital Governor, spoke on behalf of government authorities involved in the occassion, emphasising the provision of necessary facilities for the Ashoora commemoration. He praised the
Interior Minister’s efforts in securing these events through strategic planning and professional operations, ensuring public safety and smooth traffic flow. He also acknowledged the significant cooperation between the Jaafari Endowments Directorate, Hussaini Processions Authority, and heads of maatem with security and service authorities.
Yousif Al Saleh, Chairman of the Jaafari Endowments Council, expressed gratitude to His Majesty the King and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister for their respect and care for religious rituals, particularly the commemoration of Ashoora. He thanked His Majesty the King for his pardon initiatives and emphasised Bahrain’s commitment to marking religious events, with significant support from the Interior Ministry under the supervision of the Interior Minister.
